形態特徵

• Culms erect, to 20 m tall and 20 cm in diam., densely covered with light brown hairs when young, then gradually becoming smooth and dark green when old; internodes 30-60 cm long, lowest nodes little swollen, bearing aerial roots; walls thick; branches numerous at nodes.
• Sheath of culm deciduous, coriaceous, yellowish orange at first, dark brown hairy on outside, fimbriate along margins, top almost truncate; auricles of sheath conspicuous, ear shaped, dark brown; ligule of sheath irregularlylobed, 2-3 mm high, with marginal brown bristles; blade of sheath ovate-lanceolate at base, reflexed. Leaves 7-13, leaf blade very variable in size, oblong-lanceolate, 10-35 cm long, 1.5-5 cm broad, pubescent beneath, veins 7-11, veinlets 6-8, subtessellate, densely spinldose-scabrous long one margin, sparsely so along other; petiole short, 2-7 mm long; auricles of leaf inconspicuous; ligule of leaf rounded, toothed; sheath of leaf glabrous.
• Inflorescence a large compound pancile. Spikelets in clusters at nodes of leafless branches, 6-9 mm long, 4 mm wide; glumes 1-2, ovate-lanceolate; lemma broadly ovate, 8 mm long; palea ca. as long as lemma, veins 1-3 between keels and 1-2 between each keel and edge; ovary and style hairy with a single feathery stigma; stamens 6, anthers 3-5 mm long, tip slightly; hairy; lodicule absent.
• Fruits unknown.

分布

• 台灣 : Introduced to Taiwan from Laguna Botanic Garden, University of the Philippines; planted in Chiayi Bamboo Garden.
• 世界 : Native of Philippine Islands and Tropical Asia.
